**Rate Increase**
Effective July 2009

In December 2008, the SHRWD board of directors voted to postpone the last phase of the 4% rate increase until July of 2009. You may click on the Metered & Flat Rates box above to view the rates or call the office at 987-8432 if you have any questions.

Why has South Henry Regional Waste District petitioned the Indiana Department of Enviromental Management to add to its charter the water district for Dudley Township?

1. To assist with commercial or industrial development in Henry County, thereby bringing jobs to Henry County.

2. There has been recent interest for development at the Wilbur Wright and I-70 interchange. A large requirement for that development would be access to water, sewer, electric, cable, etc. Currently, there is no water or sewer service in this area.

3. Dudley Township is within the service area of South Henry Regional Waste District. Currently, there are no sanitary sewers in this area. A satellite wastewater treatment plant can be constructed on the developer’s property to provide service for just that property. After much discussion with economic development representatives and some county officials, the board of directors for South Henry Regional Waste District decided to do what they could to provide for water and sanitary sewer service IF a development happens.

OTHER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Am I going to be required to connect to a water system?
A. No. Residents cannot be mandated to connect to a water utility.

Q. When do you plan to run water service to New Lisbon area?
A. Only IF development takes place near the I-70 and Wilbur Wright interchange and/or if an official request is made with a means to pay for the infrastructure.

Q. How do you plan to provide water service if needed?
A. If money is awarded to provide infrastructure for the development, South Henry Regional Waste District would enter into an interlocal agreement with a water utility, such as New Castle or Lewisville to purchase water at a wholesale rate. SHRWD would be responsible for the design, construction and distribution of getting that water to the development.

Q. Am I going to be required to connect to a sanitary sewer system?
A. No. If a development takes place at the interchange, a satellite wastewater treatment plant will be constructed on the developer’s property to serve just that development.

Q. As a property owner, will this cost me anything?
A. No
